Southside bakery SweetArt is debuting a new menu today, with a focus on baked savory items.
The new menu will change up weekly, taking advantage of available seasonal ingredients. The focus will be on pies and pockets, like empanadas and calzones, and tarts such as crostatas and galettes. There will also be a weekly seasonal salad and soup offering. Look for four to six different "pies" each week. All will be vegetarian and some will be vegan. Cupcakes, cookies and bars will still be available, and there will also be sweet pies added to the menu.
"We're entering our fourth year of business and really wanted to do something different, something we're passionate for and something that better fits our facility's layout," says owner Reine Bayoc. "We hope people respond well to it."
Here's SweetArt's first new weekly menu, available starting today:
- Flad empanada, with vegan chili, mashed sweet potatoes, cheddar, avocado smash and salsa
- Vegan Jamaican veggie patties
- Spinach-Feta pie
- Vegan mixed-bean and plantain-stacked enchiladas
- Lentil and goat cheese tart
- Schoolhouse pizza
- Kale and cauliflower salad
- Rosemary turnip soup
